About the Historical Uses of Angelica

Drawing of angelica archangelica, artist unknown.

Angelica archangelica is an herb that has been used for thousands of years. It earns its name from Michael the archangel, who is seen as a healing angel. Its broad amount of uses range from gently soothing stomachs to fending off the plague. Most commonly, it has been used for digestion and AFAB (assigned female at birth) related health issues, such as menstrual cramps. Angelica was once considered one of the most powerful herbs, which gave it its nickname "Holy Ghost." Its religious names only go to show how potent the healing effects of angelica are.
