Sage originated in the Mediterranean, and was used by the Romans in foods to help one better digest fatty. The Father of Pharmacognosy (branch of knowledge concerning medicinal drugs), named Discorides, noted sage as one of the most appreciated and important herbs of time. He used it as a decoction on wounds to stop bleeding for Ulcers, and as a tea for Sore Throats and Hoarseness. The Emperor Charlemagne had Sage planted in Germany to use in trade, for medicinal purposes. Sage was known "Salvation Plant", originating from "Salvarem", which means "cure" or "save". The Chinese appreciated the medicinal qualities of Sage, and used it for stomach, digestive, and nervous system issues
